ABOUT US

The Athletes Headquarters Foundation was incorporated on January 31, 2025, as an Illinois non-profit organization and has received 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status. The Foundation exists exclusively for charitable purposes, with a mission to provide scholarships, financial assistance, and equipment to individuals, institutions, and organizations whose goals align with our vision—especially those serving youth who are most at risk and lack access to fitness, health, and wellness opportunities.

Founded by Derek Shomon and Meagan Biebel—whose philanthropic journey began during their time at Glenbrook South High School in Glenview, Illinois—the Foundation is built on the belief that every child deserves the opportunity to live a healthy and active life, regardless of economic background. Derek and Meagan were inspired to address the disparity between youth who had ample access to extracurricular and fitness programs and those who could not afford them.

At the heart of the Foundation’s mission is the conviction that economic or logistical barriers—such as equipment costs, lack of transportation, or absence of coaching—should never prevent a child from developing healthy habits and life skills through sport and physical activity. The Foundation seeks to break cycles of obesity, inactivity, and health inequality by providing equitable access to fitness and wellness resources.

Derek Shomon currently serves as a coach with the Miami Marlins Major League Baseball Team, and Meagan Biebel is a retired champion Irish dancer. Together, they lead Athletes HQ Foundation in delivering programs that empower youth through sport, education, and mentorship.

Beyond direct programming, the Foundation leads outreach efforts that include:

Commitment to Inclusion and Impact

The Athletes HQ Foundation is committed to removing barriers and promoting inclusion in every initiative it supports. We believe that access and encouragement can transform lives, offering youth not only the opportunity to excel in sports, but also the life skills and self-confidence necessary to thrive in society.

By engaging a strong network of volunteers, educators, mentors, and community partners, the Foundation ensures that its programs remain responsive to the evolving needs of the communities it serves. Opportunities created through our work aim to lift youth out of isolation, steer them away from negative influences, and introduce them to positive environments where they can build friendships, develop discipline, and discover their potential.

Funding and Sustainability
